Srinagar [Jammu and Kashmir], January 13 (NT): The Armed forces on Saturday defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) installed near HMT Road in Srinagar of Jammu and Kashmir.
Traffic on the highway was disrupted for some time in the morning when security forces found the IED at a busy crossing on the periphery of Srinagar. After the IED was detected by the Road Opening Party, traffic was stopped on the highway and the IED defused. A bomb disposal squad was rushed to the spot, which defused the explosive device, the official said. They had information about militant movement on the national highway, the officials said.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident two persons were injured in army firing in the same area. "When it failed to stop, army men opened fire in which two persons were injured".
"We have registered a case in the incident and launched investigations", he added.
