The New Rules singer, 22, is also shortlisted for best album where she will face stiff competition from Ed Sheeran whose barnstorming third album, Divide, sees him nominated for four gongs.

Victor of MTV Europe and NME's 2017 Best New Act, UK artist Dua Lipa will set "New Rules" at her first solo appearance in the UAE.

The coveted best British album category includes Dua's self-titled album, Ed Sheeran's divide, J Hus' Common Sense, Stormzy's Gang Signs & Prayer, and Rag N Bone Man's Human.

The singer-songwriter is also up for best single of the year as well as best British male solo artist alongside four artists who released their debut solo albums in 2017 - Liam Gallagher, Stormzy, Loyle Carner and Rag'N'Bone Man.

Meanwhile, Dua Lipa, 22, has five nominations including best British female solo artist, where she will battle it out against 2015 victor Paloma Faith, rapper-poet Kate Tempest, Jessie Ware and Laura Marling.

Former One Direction bandmates Liam Payne and Harry Styles will also compete against one another in the category, for their singles "Strip That Down" and "Sign of the Times" respectively.

The best British band nominees are Gorillaz, London Grammar, Royal Blood, Wolf Alice and The xx.

Foo Fighters - who are confirmed to perform at this year's ceremony - are up against Arcade Fire, The Killers, LCD Soundstyem and HAIM for best global band.

In the global categories, Bjork, Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Drake, LCD Soundsystem, HAIM, Arcade Fire, Alice Wolf, The Killers, and Alicia Keys have been nominated.

The 2018 Brit Awards will take place 21 February at the O2 Arena in London, and the categories video of the year and breakthrough act are open to voting at the official website.
