In a shocker, the convoy of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was attacked by stone pelters during a "samiksha yatra" in Nandar village here on Friday. The CM was, however, rescued safely by his security guards. While the chief minister escaped unhurt, two security personnel in the convoy were injured.
Nitish Kumar is on a state-wide tour since December 12 to take a stock of state government's development schemes over the years.
An official release in Patna quoted Kumar as having told a public meeting in Dumraon block of Buxar district that the incident would be thoroughly probed to ascertain the cause for it. "A section of the villagers were unhappy with the lack of development in their tola".

It apparently irked the villagers as they resorted to stone pelting at Bihar CM's convoy. "They try to mislead and provoke others but people should not get perturbed over such minor happenings". The attack also shows growing public anger against the state government's failed policies and promises. In an oblique reference to the opposition RJD, he said, "Those involved in politics of provoking and misleading the people have problems with our commitment to development".
The JD (U) and BJP, however, have alleged the attack to be a pre-planned incident and hinted at the involvement of the RJD behind it. "We will be questioning some suspects soon", said a senior police officer.
