Rep. Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said Thursday that Republicans are blocking dozens of witnesses from being interviewed in the Russian Federation probe, including some who were aware of the 2016 Trump Tower meeting where Donald Trump Jr. was promised dirt on the Clinton campaign. The committee's investigation of what role, if any, Mr. Trump's campaign played in the Russian effort continues, but its top members have said they felt an urgency to provide at least preliminary findings that could make a difference in political races across the country. "I mean certainly we'll see what happens-when they have no collusion and nobody's found any collusion at any level it seems unlikely that you'd even have an interview".

The White House declined to comment on Schiff's accusations. One slip of the tongue or uncensored remark could lead Mueller's investigators to probe new areas, and one itty, bitty lie to federal agents could lead to a charge of making false statements-a felony in the USA legal code. Both have pleaded guilty in plea deals and are cooperating with Mueller.

Trump would not confirm or deny if he has ever spoken with Kim, whose isolated nation has performed a number of ballistic missile tests that have prompted global concern in recent months. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., said Trump's lawyers should set limits on what would be covered in the interview. The former is a presidential prerogative under the Constitution. That might seem like quibbling, but the legal standard for obstruction of justice is hard to meet, especially when a president's broad executive authorities are involved.

Mr. Trump's response to those findings has varied. Cries of law-enforcement corruption and conspiracy are common in criminal cases in which the defendants know that they're in danger and want to distract attention from the case itself.

His attorneys are really desperate to keep him from testifying under oath, and for good reason. Kushner's legal team believed the whole story would eventually come out, so why not disclose the full nature of the meeting? He responded like a totally innocent man with absolutely nothing to hide, and used the phrase "no collusion" seven different times in the following word salad: "Well, again John, there has been no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russians or Trump and Russians".

Trump's testimony about the Comey and Flynn firings could be key for Mueller's investigation.

Trump reiterated that demand when he then fired Comey, making it clear to Russian officials in the Oval Office and in a media interview that he took that action in hopes it would end the investigation.

The news comes just days after Bannon stepped down from his role as executive chairman of Breitbart News Network, following furore over quotes he made in Michael Wolff's book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House about President Donald Trump.
