Suspect in Custody After'Possible Hostage Situation on Bus

Police say the situation started after they received a report of a disorderly and possibly armed suspect aboard the bus in Wisconsin near the IL border, CBS affiliate WDJT reports.

One person is in custody after the pursuit of the bus, which began in Wisconsin and ended on Interstate 94 in Lake County, according to a press release from Illinois State Police. Spike strips were used to stop the bus on southbound I-94 near Rosecrans Road.

Reports of a person with a gun on the bus led to the police chase that began late Friday and lasted 2½ hours, The Chicago Tribune reported.

A Greyhound spokesperson said at least 40 passengers were on the bus at the time.

Authorities announced the unidentified suspect was in custody after 12:30 a.m.

Lanes remain closed while the investigation continues.

Authorities evacuated all the passengers to safety and no injuries were reported, officials said.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
