A Dallas County grand jury has indicted Wesley Mathews in the capital murder of his 3-year-old daughter.
His wife Sini Mathews was also indicted Friday on a charge of abandoning a child. The girl's mother, Sini Mathews, was previously arrested in the case for child abandonment or child endangerment. If convicted, she could get a prison sentence of 2-20 years, DA Johnson said.

Wesley Mathews initially told police that the girl went missing 15 minutes after he sent her out of home as a punishment for not drinking milk. The local police chief said it's been an intense case for his officers. "Without their hard work, we would not be here today". Anupam Ray, the Consul General of India, was present at the press conference. "We are committed to continue our diligent and steadfast efforts to seek justice on their behalf".
"There is virtually no employee in the Richardson Police Department who has not been involved in this case", Police Chief Jimmy Spivey said Friday.
"We are going to be the voice for her in this offense and do all we can that".
"We have some information as to what might have happened", Johnson said. After two weeks of looking, searchers found Sherin's body less than a mile from the house.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner's office said last week that while Sherin's manner of death was homicidal violence, her exact cause of death could not be determined because of extensive decomposition.
"We never want to taint the jury". The tampering with evidence indictment claims Wesley altered, destroyed and concealed a human corpse with intent to impair evidence for a later police investigation.
The child, Sherin Mathews, disappeared in early October, sparking a broad search involving numerous law enforcement agencies before her body was found later that month. She then began drinking the milk. They can either forfeit their parental rights, or the court will decide to schedule a civil trial to possibly terminate their rights.
