Trump said he would be handing out his "dishonest media" awards on Monday at 17:00 in America in various "fake media" categories, ranging from "dishonest" to "bad reporting".

On Wednesday night's Late Show, the CBS host launched his "campaign" for consideration in Trump's "Dishonest & Corrupt Media Awards", which the president announced via his personal Twitter account on Tuesday.

He added: " Subjects will cover dishonesty and bad reporting in various categories from the fake news media.

After that late November tweet, a Rasmussen poll found 40 percent of voters believed Fox News should win this "fake news trophy", despite the president's suggestion Fox not be included in the contest. "Victor to receive the FAKE NEWS TROPHY!" president Trump had tweeted on November 27.

"Trump's tweet comes after his campaign asked supporters to help him award a "Fake News Trophy" last week".

Trump has many times accused leading USA media of spreading fake news targeting him during the election campaign as well as after he became the 45th president.

"We should have a contest as to which of the Networks, plus CNN and not including Fox, is the most dishonest, corrupt and/or distorted in its political coverage of your favorite President (me)", he tweeted. You are fake news.' when pressed to allow Acosta to speak. 'Let the President know if there is another story you think should be crowned as the 2017 KING of Fake News'. And we want to hear from you'.

"The FAKE NEWS has utterly abandoned their duty to fairly report the news to the American people".

CNN's reported that Donald Jr. received an email on September 4, 2016 from WikiLeaks granting them special access to materials that would later become public - however, he received the email from WikiLeaks on the September 14, 2016 - after the documents had been published, which indicated there was not a collaboration with the hacker organization and Trump. After a year of feuding with media since becoming president, it appears the war of words will find a new twist in an award ceremony January 8.
