Airtel has revised its Rs. 399 prepaid pack to take on Jio's Rs. 398 pack. Airtel's Rs. 93 pack gives numerous benefits like unlimited local, STD as well as roaming calls, 100 local and STD SMS daily along with 1GB of 3G/ 4G data, which is valid for a period of 10 days. There are no extra charges for calls made in roaming and no restriction on calls (daily or weekly free calling minutes).
In comparison to Airtel, Reliance Jio with its Rs. 398 pack offers 1.5GB high-speed 4G data per day (after 1.5GB Jio offers unlimited data at 64Kbps). The company has extended its validity from 84 days to 91 days. It has now taken the place of the more expensive Rs. 448 pack that offers a validity of 82 days, instead of the older 70 days.
Reliance Jio had earlier slashed tariffs by Rs 50 for all its monthly schemes under which customers are getting 1 GB data per day and also enhanced data limit to 1.5 GB from the existing 1GB for select plans from January 9 onwards. The ₹458 prepaid plan now has a validity of 84 days whereas the ₹509 prepaid plan now comes with a validity of 91 days. As per the plan, one is entitled to receive unlimited local and STD calls. It also launched four plans with 1.5GB data per day starting at Rs. 199. Interestingly, in Odisha, Rajasthan and Haryana circles, both the Rs. 458 and Rs. 509 plans offer validity of 84 days, which essentially leaves the latter redundant.
Trai's subscriber data showed Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea also registered gains in market share to 24.91%, 18.15% and 16.69% from 24.21%, 17.68% band 16.20% in October respectively.
Vodafone offers 1GB 4G/3G data per day at Rs 509. Reliance Jio 799 plan offers 140GB data for a period of 28 days.
