While Private Division operates under the Take-Two label, the publisher will operate independently of Rockstar and 2K.
Take-Two indie boss Michael Worosz said in a statement that the company has been laying the foundation for what would become Private Division for more than two years.
Take-Two released a video detailing the announcement, featuring interviews from some of its developers.

"Project Wight", an alternate history game about Vikings and monsters from former "Battlefield" and "Payday 2" developers. Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto's unannounced first-person shooter also joins the group. One is now codenamed Project Wight from The Outsiders studio, an unannounced RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, and an unannounced si-fi FPS from V1 Interactive.
"N$3 o one on the Take-Two management team will ever opine on how a game should look, feel, or play", Worosz told Game Informer. "We see a growing number of independent studios in our industry creating high quality games based on new IP, and our focus is supporting these types of developers and projects, and ultimately bringing incredible experiences to gamers around the world", he explained.
That's right, the infamous Take-Two Interactive has announced that it will bring a new independent publishing division called Private Division under its belt, alongside Rockstar Games and 2K.
