Who could Premier League teams draw in the Champions League?

The Champions League group stage came to a pulsating conclusion on Wednesday and we now know all the teams that will contest the last-16 stage, to be drawn on Monday.

Manchester City went through as Group F winners despite their 2-1 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk, while Tottenham are also through in first place having wrapped up their group campaign with a 3-0 win over APOEL Nicosia.

Teams from the same country cannot draw each other, nor can teams who played each other in the group stage.

Chelsea, meanwhile, had to settle for second place in Group C following their 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

"We are now second, it's OK, so let's think about the Premier League and the Cups".

If only one team makes the semifinals or none reach the final, something no English club has done since 2012, then it will be seen as a blown opportunity instead of a banner year.

Chelsea next play at West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday, seeking to continue their run of six wins and a draw in the top flight since the mid-October loss at Crystal Palace.

As such, the Blues will now get a more hard draw in the next round of the competition. The Premier League right now is completely different in the depth of quality in comparison to the other top leagues in Europe.

No English club has won the Champions League since 2012, suggesting the league has been passed up at the top levels, but there's no doubting the depth at the top possessed by the EPL. Helped in no small part by a ruthless 7-1 victory over Celtic, the Parisiens set a new record of 25 goals at the group stage, smashing the previous record of 21 set by Borussia Dortmund in 2016.
