The Game Awards 2017: all the trailers, winners, and how to watch

World War Z game announced for Xbox One

Speaking to publication Venture Beat earlier today, however, the host and organizer behind the event revealed a little more as to what would-be viewers have to expect for the show tomorrow night.

There's no telling when or if video games will ever be taken as seriously as film or television, but The Game Awards is the first video game awards show that actually treats games with some degree of reverence.

Game of the Year is particularly stacked: Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Horizon: Zero Dawn, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG), and Persona 5 will compete for top honors.

World War Z the video game is based on the famous novel series World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War written by Max Brooks and released in 2006. Prey, Destiny 2, Nioh, Cuphead and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus are vying for Best Action Game.

While we still don't know all the announcements coming our way, reasonable minds can assume we will be seeing the recently-leaked Fade to Silence by THQ Nordic and Black Forest Games, as well as possibly a Death Stranding announcement from Hideo Kojima. Other presenters include Aisha Tyler of Archer fame, actor Andy Serkis from War for the Planet of the Apes, Justin Roiland from Rick and Morty, actress Felicia Day from Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return and Zachary Levi from Chuck.
