Alan Pardew admitted that he fears West Bromwich Albion will lose captain Jonny Evans in January, with Manchester City considering returning for the Northern Ireland worldwide.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, meanwhile, will see Per Mertesacker retire at the end of the current campaign.

"You are never confident when you've got great players because other clubs want great players". Do I want to lose him?

"Jonny Evans is certainly one of them, and he's our captain. Of course I do".

"I have some good history with Nicky Hammond in terms of what we did at Reading and I trust him 100 per cent on the transfer front and with the scouting team", said Pardew.

A goalless draw at home to Palace, Pardew's former club, last weekend left West Brom without a win in 13 Premier League games and just one place above the relegation zone.

West Bromwich Albion head coach Alan Pardew has claimed that his players have "a thirst for success" ahead of their trip to Swansea City.

Pardew has set his players a target of nine wins in order to retain their top-flight status, and the new boss is keen for three points to be recorded at the Liberty Stadium.

"We need to turn up on Saturday afternoon and we need to win the game".

It seems Evans' continued impressive performances at the back have earned him a great deal of admirers, as West Ham and Everton will now try to lure the Northern Irishman away from the Hawthorns as they attempt to solve their defensive woes. This is just three points in a season.
