Mourinho hails 'world best' De Gea as United beat Arsenal

EPL giants Manchester United secured a 3-1 comfortable win against Arsenal on Saturday, December 2 to narrow Manchester City's lead to five points.

"I told him after the match, what I saw today was the best from a goalkeeper in the world".

By the half-hour mark, Arsenal were by far the dominant side and it was only due to the brilliance of de Gea in goal and Nemanja Matic around the penalty box that United somehow survived a Gunners onslaught till half-time.

Alexandre Lacazette, a surprise inclusion after Arsene Wenger had ruled him out in the build-up, was a lively presence and began to test de Gea's reflexes from a manner of angles.

'But I think the best words must go to Arsenal's medical department because Lacazette went from a no to a 90 minutes, and that's great'. "I didn't see the tackle", Mourinho said. "Arsenal played in some periods fantastic attacking football - creating difficulties for us".

Jesse Lingard (twice) and Antonio Valencia netted for the Red Devils, in what was an entertaining clash. "I leave to you (to decide)", he said, when asked for his thoughts.

And the nature of United's vibrant display answered the critics who have accused Mourinho of "parking the bus" in away games against the sides challenging for top-four places.

"I loved the way my team played and fought", he said.

Arsenal had over thirty attempts in the match and De Gea was more than up to the task and delivered a record-tying appearance. I don't know so many in English but awesome, phenomenal, fantastic. "Despite being 2-0 down we should have come back - we had enough chances". We produced excellent quality, but were not decisive enough. We were too on the edge mentally maybe - you can not be in a game like that. But I have to also say that Arsenal played, in some periods, amazing, attacking football, creating difficulties for us.
