Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has said Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho would be the ideal fit for his old club, Barcelona.

Philippe Coutinho that he could be leaving Liverpool at some stage.

The Nou Camp outfit were close to signing the 25-year-old - who celebrated his hat-trick exploits with his family at San Carlo restaurant on Wednesday - but Liverpool refused to sell their prized asset.

It appears Coutinho's desire to move to Barcelona in January is as strong as it was when he handed in a transfer request in August, even though he will be cup-tied in the Champions League.

"I'll stick my neck on the block", Owen said. Mane played down any such reports and insists he is happy and can't wait to continue scoring for Liverpool. That season, it was Luis Suarez who scored from all conceivable angles to become the official Premier League player of the season that year, and his equivalent this year in terms of goal quantity has been Egypt global Mohamed Salah. In the hours since the game, rumours have resurfaced linking him with a big-money January move to Barcelona.

Coutinho was in scintillating form as he scored the first, second and fifth goals in Liverpool's 7-0 Champions League romps past Spartak Moscow.

Regarding Barcelona's bid from the summer, which UOL claims was €160m, Coutinho said: "It was a job offer as for any other person and I became interested".

I'm very happy to play alongside all these great players.

Coutinho has shown his versatility under the management of Jurgen Klopp and has transformed into arguably one of the best playmakers in World football.

"Of course a lot happened in the summer but my will is always to play and do the best wherever I am - that has not changed".

"It was a special night due to the result and because I had the armband in such an important game playing for a club like Liverpool".
