Police searching for missing woman, 8-year-old daughter

Charlotte police fear 'emotional state' of mom who disappeared with 8-year-old daughter

Police in Charlotte say a mother picked up her eight-year-old daughter from school Monday and the two haven't been seen since.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police told WSOC-TV that Megan Stack and her daughter Ava were found in Franklin County, Missouri, near St. Louis after Stack apparently voluntarily stopped at an emergency medical services substation.

Authorities are working now to reunite Stack's daughter, Ava, with other family members.

The incident occurred in the 3500 block of Sunset Road near the intersection of Peachtree Road around 5:40 p.m. Police say the area is a dark and unlit section of Sunset Road.

Police said there was serious concern for their safety due to Megan Stack's emotional state and recent behavior. Now they're asking for the public's help finding them.

The N.C. Center for Missing Persons has now issued a Silver Alert for Megan, meaning it is believed she is in danger and suffering from some kind of cognitive impairment.

According to CMPD Spokesperson Rob Tufano, police looked at footage from the cameras at the school, and followed Megan Stacks financial transactions or any social media posts.
