Heading for top spot? Chelsea are already through

In Group A, Manchester United came back in the second half to defeat CSKA Moscow 2-1 at Old Trafford. Real Madrid are also confirmed to finish second and will be joined by three more sides - now scheduled to be Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk and Porto.

Historically the draw usually takes place on a Friday but the powers that be at Uefa have decided it will take place on Monday December 11th this year.

Manchester United and Liverpool qualified as group winners too, with Jurgen Klopp's side clinching top spot in Group E with their emphatic 7-0 thrashing of Spartak Moscow on Wednesday.

Kylian Mbappe got one back for the Parisians who won the group and may go up against the likes of Chelsea, Juventus and Real Madrid in the last 16.

Just a reminder that you cannot play opponents from the same country in the last 16 or teams you have played in the group stages. That means Chelsea can not play Roma. "I want to play every game", Azpilicueta said with a smile after Chelsea's 1-1 Champions League draw with Atletico Madrid. Furthermore, only four times in the last 14 years has a full complement of La Liga teams reached the last 16.

That leaves only Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Besiktas as Chelsea's options.

Serie A high-flyers Napoli dropped into the Europa League as Shakhtar Donetsk's victory over Premier League leaders Manchester City rendered their 2-1 loss at Feyenoord effectively a dead rubber.

In other Group matches, Real Madrid beat Borussia Dortmund 3-2, Tottenham thrashed Apoel Nicosia 3-nil, FC Porto beat Monaco 5-2 while NK Maribor and Sevilla drew 1-all.

Group winners are drawn against second place sides and play away first, with the second legs at home.

Diego Simeone's Atletico, who have only been knocked out by Real Madrid in each of the last four years, reaching at least the quarter-finals every time, must now accept a spot in the Europa League.
