DC's Shazam is continuing to gain momentum on the road to filming, as a major casting has been announced.
"It" actor Jack Dylan Grazer has been approached to star in Warner Bros.
The young actor joins the cast which now features Zachary Levi as the titular superhero, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Grace Fulton, and Mark Strong as Doctor Sivana. Zachary Levi will play the titular role of Shazam. He's the only person who knows Billy can transform into the adult superhero Captain Marvel and, in the comics, eventually becomes a superhero himself, Captain Marvel Jr. This is pretty big news for fans of classic and modern Shazam since Freddy has always been a vital part of the character's mythos.
The 14-year-old actor - who is best known for playing Edward "Eddie" Kaspbrak" in the hit horror "IT' - is set to play Freddy, the best friend to teenager Billy Baston who will be played by Asher Angel, Deadline reports.
Creation filmmaker David F. Sandberg is directing from a script by Darren Lemke (Jack the Giant Slayer) and Henry Gayden (Earth to Echo). His uncle is well-known movie producer Brian Grazer. "Grazer will next be seen in the drama film 'Beautiful Boy" along with Steve Carell and Timothée Chalamet.
