Singer John Mayer hospitalized for emergency appendectomy

According to a tweet from the Dead & Company tour, guitarist John Mayer "is recovering from the emergency appendectomy he underwent yesterday and is in good spirits".

"Thank you everyone for the well wishes", Mayer shared on Twitter.

The Grammy victor was scheduled to perform with Dead & Company on December 5, 7 and 8, but those shows are being postponed. "This band and these shows mean the world to me", he concluded.

Mayer had performed with the Dead & Company as recently as Sunday. Loynes said all tickets for the concerts would be honored and later rescheduled.

The situation has made it necessary for the Dead and Company to postpone two more shows - set for December 7 in Orlando and December 8 in Sunrise, Florida. The group includes former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann. "John wants to reschedule for a new date as soon as possible, and we'll let you know as soon as the new date is confirmed". Ticketholders can also seek a refund at point of purchase. The performers' Tuesday, Thursday and Friday shows in Louisiana and Florida have been postponed.
