Katrina Kaif mourns demise of veteran actor Shashi Kapoor

BBC goofs up, airs clips of Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor while covering Shashi Kapoor's death

Katrina Kaif dedicates heartfelt Facebook post to late Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor

Now relating to his death a controversy has emerged as the leading British News Channel BBC wrongly reported Shashi Kapoor's death.

Presenter Huw Edwards announced the death of the veteran actor by playing two video clips but sadly none of the clips showed Shashi Kapoor. Making it worse, the Amitabh Bachchan clip that the channel aired was from the film Kabhie Kabhie, a film that also featured Shashi Kapoor. Shashi Kapoor acted in over 150 films and his character left a stamp on the audience even if the film failed at the box office which speaks volumes of his acting skills.

Many Bollywood celebs attended his funeral to pay their last respects to the star while some expressed their grief over the social media platforms. The BBC faced backlash on social media with users claiming the same mistake wouldn't have been made if a white star had died. Shashi Kapoor's body was wrapped in the tricolour.

Citizen Khan creator Adil Ray wrote: "Someone at the BBC thought the brown person in this VT is the same person".

Aasmah Mir, who presents Saturday Live on BBC Radio 4, said she was "really annoyed" by the error.

"BBC News at Ten is very sorry wrong images were used to mark the death of Shashi Kapoor. The piece did not meet its usual standards and the programme has apologised for any upset".
