Bengaluru: Ola cab driver holds woman passenger hostage and masturbates in car

The incident took place on Sunday night at around 10.30 when the 23-year-old woman, who works as a fashion stylist in the city, took the Ola cab to reach her home in BTM Layout, a southern suburb.

The woman said he kept harassing her until he was forced to unlock the auto when she banged on the windows and screamed.

The Ola cab driver had also threatened the passenger against complaining saying that Ola firm doesn't pay heed to such complaints'. "We have suspended the driver and extend full support to this investigation against the said driver".

It said the customer has been asked to lodge a formal complaint with the authorities.

The driver then started calling the woman on her number to warn her after which she blocked his number. She said: "I shouted and asked him to stop the vehicle - -unfazed, and continuing his act, he very nonchalantly asked me what was wrong".

According to the woman, the vehicle had reached the intermediate Ring Road on the way to Koramangala when the driver stopped the auto by the roadside. He then tried touching the woman inappropriately. The woman ran for 500 meters till she reached the Ejipura traffic signal.

Following the incident an Ola spokesperson said, "We regret the unfortunate experience the customer had during their ride". However, the woman mustered the courage and lodged a complaint against the driver.

However, the cab driver allegedly continued to approach her in an indecent manner despite her warnings.

The woman, however, alleged that Ola did not inform her about the action it took against the driver. "They then promised to suspend the cab driver but no senior official called me back to detail me the status of my complaint".

Meanwhile, Ola representatives have confirmed that Reddy has been suspended after the complaint and the company representative will probe the issue.
