The Go Edition of Android will be 15% faster than the regular edition and leaves a much smaller footprint on the storage memory than the regular version, it said. This version is said to offer voice-based user interface along with a rich set of data services for first time internet users on the JioPhone.

Caesar Sengupta, Vice-President, Next Billion Users, said Google's India-first suite of products and features are aimed to help more people discover how the Internet can make life easier and more convenient.

Tech giant Google today unveiled a slew of new solutions, such as Android Oreo Go edition for low-priced smartphones and a bike mode for Maps, aimed at driving Internet adoption across markets, including India.

Now Google is bringing a customized version of Assistant (with Hindi voice support) to the device, that is adapted to the JioPhone's 2.4-inch QVGA color screen.

Just a few weeks ago, Google's CEO Sundar Pichai at the company's earnings call said that Google Tez has managed to grab over 7 million users in just five weeks since the service launch in September 2017.

However, it will also answer questions that do not have any answers on the Internet, such as "How old are you".

Eventually, it is believed that almost all of the interactions between humans and machines would be carried out via voice instead of text, as is the case now.

Google is hosting its "Google for India" event in New Delhi today.

"Once people pay a bill on Tez, they never have to add the billing organization again. And they can avoid paying the same bill twice, since the payment status will be automatically updated", it said.

The appetite for Internet consumption in India will increase steadily over the next 3 years as more and more users log onto the World Wide Web, and Rajan Anandan VP, South East Asia and India at Google, says they will need an Internet that is much different from what it is today. Users will receive a notification when the feature hits their account. These apps are Files Go, Google Go, Assistant Go, YouTube Go, and Maps Go. One can also choose an app background from the device's gallery.
