Resistance Update on Nov 5, Free Weekend From Nov 7-10

Tom Clancy's The Division is free to play with Xbox Live Gold this weekend

Tom Clancy's The Division's 1.8 update launch trailer celebrates the game's largest free update yet

There's a lot to like in Resistance including a new area of the map, new PVP and PVE game modes, alongside tweaks and bug fixes. Resistance will pit Division agents against an unprecedented alliance of enemy factions, challenging players to fight off waves of powerful foes and formidable bosses. It adds a new area called West Side Pier, which (as well as the usual open world activities) will feature two new modes of play.

Xbox Live Gold members have the opportunity to play The Division for free this weekend and experience all of the new content added in its next major update tomorrow (via Xbox Wire).

Coinciding with the release of Resistance, The Division is getting a free weekend event on all platforms from December 7 to December 10. All DLC in the season pass will be free to all players, including those trying it for free, from December 5-10. The update will be available on Xbox One, Windows PC, and PlayStation 4. Be the team with the highest number of kills when the time limit expires. And it's not enough to just "down" an enemy player - you have to eliminate them to make it count. The two new modes are named Resistance and Skirmish.

Version 1.8 also includes a new social hub, revamped rogue mechanics, changes to the Underground DLC, and optimization of the gear system. Survive in your team of four for as long as you can to receive greater rewards. One by one, basic services fail and in only days, without food or water, society collapses into chaos. The best part is you can team up with other players to investigate the sources of the virus and reclaim the city from the overwhelming turmoil.
