What people are thankful this Thanksgiving

The Mountain News Staff is Grateful

Thanksgiving: The meal is the holiday

We can get into the "poor me" mood. "Lives are being changed and families given a new future".

"I am very thankful for my wife, family, friends and medical staff for helping and encouraging me". The lady who oversees the poultry calls us from time to time, usually when there's a duck or chicken with a "problem" (undersized, some type of deformity), and we take them, raise them, and let them live out their lives happily on our no-kill farm.

So today, I am loved, and I've been building up my confidence again.

For some, the holiday has deep religious meaning, an opportunity to acknowledge, as George Washington did upon declaring a "Day of Thanksgiving" in 1789, "the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be".

"There's a lot to be thankful for".

DeAnna Bennett - "This Thanksgiving I plan on doing what I love the most, spending my morning in the gym and then baking some pies.... none for me to eat this year, but for other people". On thanksgiving I'll be chowing down at my in-laws house.

On this day we are reminded that nothing in this world is more important than family.

⬛ As we celebrate our bountiful blessings on this Thanksgiving Day, I am especially thankful for the blessings of faith, country, community and family. "Thank you to this Goldilocks of a planet - not too hot and not too cold, not too wet and not too dry, and to the delicate balance that sustains my family's life, and life itself". They deserve thanks for making sure others enjoy a Thanksgiving meal. Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!

"I wish for everybody to be united and hope that we continue to have a strong economy". They work together to formulate the points that should be made in the that day's opinion.

"Despite the recent sad news, we are thankful that the spirit of the CNMI is still very high and we continue to be hopeful that things will be better for the CNMI".

I will be thankful if Congress reauthorizes the Children's Health Insurance Program, which has protected American children for two decades. And I'm grateful for all the learning lessons I've had this year. "I do only work, work, work, nothing more.so I can support my family".

"We can always find something to be thankful for, and there may be reasons why we ought to be thankful for even those dispensations which appear dark and frowning."
"I'll be in the gym extra early Thanksgiving day though to kill the calorie guilt that'll happen later".

"God bless us all". I thank my neighbors, the folks I run into at the grocery store, the teachers and firefighters and everyone who contributes to the prosperous and peaceful place in which we live.

This simple song has stuck with me over the years. "At the same time, we should reflect on how we can use our talents to better our lives, our community and the CNMI".

Personally, I have much to be grateful for this Thanksgiving. Because we start with the youngest family member and progress to the oldest, this wonderful tradition is bookmarked by gems from the mouths of babes and wise, heartfelt words spoken by family elders. Pretty much every day, I wake up and say, "holy shit, I can't believe this is real".

I'll go basic and be generic, I'm thankful for my family as they are all alive and well. By being grateful as often as we can.

That attitude also can extend to relationships with other people. Second, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the people of Rota and the CNMI for the continuous support, encouragement and prayers. "All that God has done for us". May He continue to bless us with His strength, courage and wisdom to overcome any obstacles or challenges ahead of us.

I am thankful for moments spent with family and friends. "For those who are going through hardships, may we always have God's blessings in our lives".
