High Court has ordered that Maryam Sanda, be remanded in Suleja prison for allegedly murdering Bilyamin Bello, her husband.
However, the presiding judge, Yusuf Halilu, ruled that she be remanded in Suleja prisons and subsequently adjourned the case to December 7, for further hearing.
Maryam Sanda allegedly stabbed his husband, Bilyaminu Bello-Haliru, multiple times, police said.
Hussein Musa, the defence counsel, askedthe court not to let his client be in custody because she is nursing a child.
Maryam, who wept profusely in the court, covered her face with a veil to prevent journalists from taking pictures.
In the charge sheet seen by TheCable, Sanda was accused of committing an offence punishable by death.
"It should also be noted that this present charge is as a result of preliminary findings; at the end of investigations, additional findings will determine whether the current charge will be amended or whether other persons will be charged along with the suspect", Manza said.
He explained that "to assist the Police with their ongoing investigation, some persons have been invited for questioning on the matter".
Recall that Sanda's story broke the internet earlier this week after sources close to the family alleged that, Sanda, who is the daughter of embattled former Aso Savings Bank boss, Hajia Maimuna Aliyu, took her husband's life after she saw a text message on his phone that hinted at an extra-marital affair.
She was also accused of causing Bello "grievous hurt" by stabbing him on the neck, an act said to be contrary to section 240 (g) and punishable under section 247 of the Penal Code Law.
The couple had a daughter together.
