Gaia Pope: Police Arrest Man, 49, On Suspicion Of Murder

Detectives have been carrying out a major search for the 19-year-old, who vanished from the Swanage area of Dorset on the afternoon of November 7.

Cops say the finding, at 10.28am on Thursday, was made in an area of open land north of a coastal path.

A cordon is in place following the discovery of items of women's clothing in a field near Swanage.

Earlier police found clothing similar to that worn by Miss Pope when she disappeared, following a tip-off from a member of the public.

The family of the missing teenager, who has epilepsy and did not leave with her medication, have released a statement through police saying: "We will find you darling girl".

Devoto added: "We are doing everything possible to try and locate Gaia".

Gaia's mother said she was "holding on to hope" for her daughter's safe return.

Gaia was last seen running down a road in a distressed state.

The developments come after Rosemary Dinch, 71, and her grandson Dunkirk actor Nathan Elsey, 19, were arrested on suspicon of murder.

Members of the Isle of Wight's lowland search and rescue team, WightSAR, have been deployed to the mainland today (Friday) to assist mainland colleagues as part of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Gaia Pope.

They were released under investigation on Tuesday after being arrested on suspicion of murder by police the previous day.
