According to the Los Angeles Times, the athlete's Delta flight left Shanghai at 9 p.m. local time and is expected to arrive in Los Angeles around 5 p.m.

Per Chinese law, the three players could face significant prison sentences of three to 10 years if convicted of grand larceny.

Riley, Hill and Ball were arrested on suspicion of shoplifting from three high-end stores in a shopping center next to the team's hotel in Hangzhou but were released on bail November 8.

With the players stranded in China and at the mercies of the Chinese legal system, President Trump reached out to China's leader to ask him to look into the case, according to the Washington Post.

The situation with three UCLA Basketball players accused of stealing from a Louis Vuitton store (as well admit two other establishments) made all kinds of headlines last week.

UCLA's trip coincided with Trump's two-day state visit to the Chinese capital, Beijing.

If you're a basketball fan, you probably know who LiAngelo Ball is.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders confirmed in an email that Trump raised the matter with Xi, The Post reported. "And hopefully everything is going to work out", Trump said on board Air Force One, before word of the trio's return appeared. While the rest of the team flew home after the game, the three freshmen were forced to stay behind as the investigation played out.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier Tuesday that the players had been seen boarding a plane bound for LAX.

The players were released on bail Wednesday morning in Hangzhou, China, and reportedly did not accompany the team back to Los Angeles after UCLA's 63-60 victory over Georgia Tech.

ESPN reported that authorities have surveillance footage of the players stealing from three stores.

As previously shared, the three were in China for a game against Georgia Tech.
