Rose McGowan was released from custody Tuesday after turning herself in for a drug possession charge. It is unclear which substance, but the charge is specific to possession of a schedule I or II narcotic, authorities told THR.
Police launched an investigation after they allegedly found traces of narcotics in personal belongings left behind on a United flight arriving at the Washington Dulles International Airport on January 20, the AP reported.
Last month, she claimed the arrest warrant obtained by Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department had been part of an attempt to silence her.
McGowan turned herself in at the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office after a warrant was issued February 1 by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department, authorities confirmed.
McGowan is one of the leading campaigners against sexual harassment in Hollywood and has alleged that film producer Harvey Weinstein raped her. Weinstein has said through a spokesperson that "any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied".
Taking to Twitter to slam the arrest warrant, she ranted, Are they trying to silence me? What a load of HORSE--..
On October 31 she simply tweeted "FACT" in a retweet suggesting that if she had "taken the million dollars in hush money" from Weinstein, the warrant would not have been a news story.
