Ben Affleck and J.J. Abrams added a star-studded trailer for a spoof superhero film to the list of surprises they gave Jimmy Kimmel Monday night to celebrate his 50th birthday. And playing these supers are none other than Billy Crudup, Zach Galafianakis, Shaq, Ty Burrell, Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, Jon Hamm, Cousin Sal, Jennifer Aniston, and Ben Affleck.
Kimmel's pals honored him with a special superhero movie trailer for "The Terrific Ten", based on a comic book Kimmel wrote as a child.
Making up the Terrific Ten are Color Kid, Super Duck, Spire, Mirgiv, Meinstrom, Bendolite, Lucky Lad, Super Sal, Laser Lass, and Muscle Man. This team of heroes went up against the villainous Mr. Bolt in Kimmel's comic.
"Literally, the reason I took this movie is imagining wearing that costume and I've got a little boy and having my son see me", Affleck says.
Seeing some of Hollywood's most popular celebrities bringing to life a story you dreamt up as a kid has got to be one of the most awesome things ever. The resulting parody trailer is a very amusing piece of work, from its Marvel-aping company credit at the start to its highly accurate closing shot - a ideal recreation of Kimmel's childhood drawing. "We were created by a weird, sad kid who grew to later become a weird, fat man. F-- Kimmel". You could argue was an unnecessarily nasty piece of humor to put in.
"My son, two weeks ago, said to me, 'Dad, there's one costume I want in the whole wide world".
