Russian Federation says USA providing cover for Islamic State in Syria

Russia accuses US coalition of hampering its anti-IS operation in Syria

The Russian Defense Ministry's allegations that US-led forces refrained from attacking fighters from the Daesh terror group as they fled the Syrian city of Abu Kamal are inaccurate, Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman Col. Ryan Dillon told reporters on Tuesday.

But they did not provide any answer to the query why heavily armed IS militants were regrouping in the zone under the control of the global coalition for new attacks on Syrian troops, the ministry said. "Almost anything that comes out of the Russian MoD is suspect and inaccurate".

The defence ministry claims the jihadist fighters operate disguised as members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) with U.S. support and that the government offensive on Abu Kamal has interrupted American plans to create a pro-US area on the eastern shore of the Euphrates River.

Dillon also said the Russian military had suffered recent setbacks in Deir Ez-Zor, though he did not provide any details to back up this assertion.

The US are actually covering the ISIS combat units to recover their combat capabilities, redeploy, and use them to promote the American interests in the Middle East.

In May of a year ago, the Russian embassy in the United Kingdom was ridiculed after using a screenshot from the "Command and Conquer Generals" computer game to illustrate its claim that Nusra Front militants in Syria had received truckloads of "chemical ammo".

"The defence ministry is looking into a civilian employee of one of the departments who attached photos to the defence ministry's statement by mistake", a new statement was quoted by Russian agencies as saying.

Russian Federation and the USA -led coalition are backing separate offensives against the IS in Syria, with both advancing in oil-rich Deir al-Zour in the east of the war-torn country.
