The representative of Ogun East Senatorial District, Senator Buruji Kashamu, on Monday accused the Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, of working to ensure that the Governor of Rivers State, Nyeson Wike, imposed a candidate from the South South as the National Chairman of the party.

Speaking to reporters in the early morning yesterday after the meeting with chairmanship candidates in Enugu, Fayose, who is the chairman of the PDP Governors' Forum, said: "We put PDP first and PDP is first".

He said that while the party's presidential ticket was zoned to the North, the position of chairman was zone to the South, without specific reference to States or geopolitical region. With him, the forthcoming convention a great opportunity for the party to complete the redemption it started at the Port Harcourt mini convention.

The Governor of Ekiti state and Chairman of the Forum, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, said that the party's national convention, schedule for December 9, would be a world class event that other political parties would emulate.

‎The Aspirant debunked the speculations making the round that the meeeting was deadlocked, said that it was a family meeting conducted under a peaceful atmosphere under the Chairmanship of the Ekiti State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, the Chairman of the Forum. He has disorganised the south-west PDP for selfish manipulations with his cohorts, chief amongst whom is the uncultured and erratic Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayo Fayose.

Fayose further disclosed that the governors were looking forward to the party's victory in the November 18 gubernatorial election in Anambra State, noting that the party expected nothing less than a credible, free and fair election. It should not only be credible but seen to be credible.

Apparently sensing danger ahead of the convention, Kashamu in a statement he personally signed and released in Abuja, warned that the idea of the chairmanship of the party being made "a free for all", could work against the interest of the PDP.

"I want to believe that Nigeria is of age to conduct elections that will be acceptable at home and overseas, and we want to believe that we will take the day on the 18th of this month in the Anambra governorship election", he said.

"As if the disorganisation of the south-west structures is not enough; Makarfi has clandestinely abdicated the leadership role of ensuring an acceptable micro-zoning, he left the national chairmanship hitherto conceded to the south-west for a free-for-all among the three southern zones".
