In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old girl was set on fire in their house in Adambakkam in Chennai on Monday night by a man known to her family after she refused to reciprocate his love. Her mother and sister now getting treated in the same hospital, and are said to be in a critical condition.

Things took a bad turn on Monday night at 8.45, when Aakash went and banged on the door of Induja's house in Adambakkam AGS Colony, in Saraswathi Nagar. She had been admitted with over 49 per cent burns and eventually succumbed to it. And in between Induja mother, Renuka and her sister Nivedha were also got injured.

The victim was an engineer by profession and the accused was a classmate in school. On another hand, the family says that Akash has been stalking and harassing Indhuja from past one month.

As per The News Minute, Aakash, who lives in the neighbourhood, landed up outside Indhuja's residence on Monday night. Her mother Renuka opened the door and was initially reluctant to allow the man in, however, he persisted and demanded that Induja meet him. The woman died while undergoing treatment in a hospital. Although, nothing is cleared yet why he burnt her alive along with sister and mother.

The accused Akash (25) who tried to escape was arrested by the police on Tuesday morning.

When the three women came out, he reportedly threw petrol on them and ignited it with a cigarette lighter.

The neighbors who rushed to rescue the trio took them to the Kilpauk Medical College (KMC) hospital in Chennai.
