The latter quality has been just as inherent in Robison as the instincts that helped him make the play.
A committee of former players select the eight finalists, and then current players select the victor when they vote for the Pro Bowl in December. A panel from the NFL Legends Community, made up of former NFL players, will select eight finalists, with four coming from each conference. The victor will receive a $25,000 donation from the NFL Foundation to a charity of his choice and a trophy to recognize the honor. "The fact it's being voted on by the players, well, the recipient can feel good about it because it's voted on by his peers". Then players from around the league will vote on the victor.
The victor will receive a $25,000 donation to the charity of his choosing as well as a trophy.
Created in 2014, the Art Rooney Award is given annually to the NFL player who best demonstrates "fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition", according to the league's press release.
Of course, last year's Colts nominee, running back Frank Gore, actually won the award as the 2016 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award victor.
