Chris Gayle, the Windies batsman, was not picked by any of the six franchises in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) draft held in Lahore on Sunday (November 12), and his place went to Australia's Chris Lynn as teams finalised their combinations.

Speaking at the occasion earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi congratulated the six franchises that will participate in the event and thanked them for helping enable the return of top-tier worldwide cricket to Pakistani soil.

The six PSL teams - which already have nine-player squads - will be able to pick up to 11 players each to complete their 20-member squad using a $1.2 million purse.

Peshawar Zalmi have picked all-rounder Hammad Azam.

During the inaugural edition of the PSL in 2016, Gayle represented Lahore Qalandars and scored just 103 runs from five matches at an average of 20.60.

Multan Sultans have picked batsman Ahmed Shehzad.

Emerging Players Round 2: Lahore Qalandars retain Ghulam Mudassar, Islamabad United retain Hussain Talat, Karachi Kings - Hasan Mohsin, Quetta Gladiators - Hassan Khan, Peshawar Zalmi - Ibtisam Sheikh, Multan Sultans - Saif Badar.

Karachi Kings picked Colin Ingram in platinum category, followed by Mitchell Johnson in Diamond and Luke Right in Gold category of players.

Among the emerging players picked - a system through which the young Shadab Khan rose to prominence - Saad Ali stood out after being picked by Quetta after being the top-scorer in the Quaid-e-Azam trophy so far with 755 runs.

Defending champions Peshawar Zalmi picked Dwayne Bravo in Platinum category.

Lahore Qalandars have picked spin bowler Raza Hasan and all-rounder Sohail Akhtar in the silver category. Supplementary players: Angelo Mathews, Mitchell McClenaghan, Gulraiz Sadaf.

Peshawar Zalmi selected Bangladesh's player Tamim Iqbal and Multan Sultans took Darren Bravo in the Diamond category.

Though the PSL 2018 is only slated to start from February 2018, teams were involved in a battle to sign quality players, who were in good numbers. The next four rounds will be for the drafting of Supplementary players. Supplementary players: Colin Munro, Eoin Morgan, Saifullah Bangash. Supplementary players: Andre Fletcher, Evin Lewis, Khalid Usman, Mohammad Arif.

Saad Ali and Ramiz Raja Jr were picked by the Gladiators in Silver category while in emerging players' category, Sarfraz-led gladiators opted for Saud Shakil and Hasaan Khan.

Hardus Viljoen, Umar Gul, Umar Siddiq and Ross Whiteley were Sultan's Supplementary category players.
