Harvey Weinstein: Quentin Tarantino 'ashamed' he knew about producer's alleged misconduct

The New York Times first broke the story of Weinstein's alleged sexual assaults and abuse in its explosive exposé in mid-October, which detailed the Hollywood mogul's alleged, decades-long pattern of sexual misconduct towards women within and connected to the film industry, many actresses have come forward to detail their own experiences, including Ashley Judd, Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow.

As previously reported, NYT published an exposé on Thursday, October 5, detailing almost 30 years of sexual misconduct allegations against the Oscar victor, who was sacked from his own company amid the scandal and left by his estranged wife, Georgina Chapman.

More than 40 women have made allegations of harassment or inappropriate behaviour against Weinstein since investigations by the New York Times and New Yorker magazine were published. "I knew he did a couple of these things".

"What I did was marginalize the incidents", he said.

Responses to Tarantino's admission have ranged from outright rage to conflicted respect for his apology. Tarantino's former girlfriend, Mira Sorvino, was one of Weinstein's accusers and, according to the "Reservoir Dogs" director, she had told him about Weinstein's unwanted advances and touching.

He said he was also aware of the settlement Weinstein made with actress Rose McGowan, who starred in the 2007 Robert Rodriguez film Planet Terror that was a part of a Weinstein-produced Grindhouse double-feature with Tarantino.

Tarantino admits that he can offer nothing but a "crappy" excuse at this point.

"I chalked it up to a '50s-'60s era image of a boss chasing a secretary around the desk", he told the paper.

Amid the mounting accusations, Tarantino said, he reached out to Weinstein, who he believes needs to "face the music", but got no reply. Following the stories, he was sacked from the Weinstein Company by its Board of Directors, which includes his brother Bob Weinstein.

Their films include Inglourious Basterds, The Hateful Eight and Django Unchained, which is The Weinstein Company's highest-grossing movie. Don't just give out statements.

A spokesperson for Weinstein previously told PEOPLE in a statement that "any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein". Acknowledge that there was something rotten in Denmark. He later heard another account of a woman being harassed and confronted Weinstein.

His own relationship with Weinstein, who has been fired from his own company and ousted from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, spanned deals and shoots, publicity tours and film festivals.

She said she got separated from friends in search of a restroom when a man grabbed her and forced her into his vehicle.

Police in NY and London are also investigating the fallen movie mogul over allegations of sex abuse in those cities.
