The 718 Boxster and Cayman GTS share their 2.5-liter flat-fours with the 718 S models, but a new intake plenum and revised turbo bring a 15-hp boost, with 365 hp on tap. Take the S model (whether it be 911 Carrera, Macan, Cayenne, Panamera, or in this case, the 718 Boxster and Cayman), and make a handful of its desirable performance options standard. The Cayman is priced from £59,866, while the Boxster is a smidge more at £61,727.
Peak torque also is up 37 lb. -ft. A manual six-speeder is standard, but you can optionally spec a seven-speed PDK.
Torque also goes up to 317 pound-feet, and is available from a broad 1,900 to 5,000 revs. Inside, there are Porsche's Sports Seats Plus, with electric adjustment and alcantara-trimmed centres, and the synthetic suede-like material is also used for the steering wheel, gear lever and centre console. When outfitted with the PDK, this extra juice helps the 718 GTS crack the 0-60 miles per hour sprint in just 3.9 seconds, charging up to a lofty 180 miles per hour top speed.
Distinguishing the new models from their less-powerful siblings are subtle styling changes including a lightly altered front bumper, black tinted headlamps and taillamps, a more prominent diffuser element within the rear bumper and centrally mounted black tailpipes as part of a standard sport exhaust system. There ae black GTS logos either side, along with black satin-finished 20-inch alloy wheels.
As any GTS vehicle should (we're looking at you, 911 GTS), the sports seats and interior are trimmed with a healthy dose of alcantara, and Porsche's "Track Precision App" can record your track day laps and driving data straight to your phone. Pricing for the 718 Cayman GTS starts at $79,800, with the 718 Boxster GTS checking in just a bit higher at $81,900. The subtly upgraded derivatives had been spied testing recently, and follow a pattern established by Porsche of offering a greater number of GTS models earlier in the product life cycle.
Both the 718 Boxster GTS and 718 Cayman GTS are available to order now, with first deliveries expected "around March 2018".
