'Tactically, he's one of the best I've worked with.

Appearing on Sky's A League of Their Own, Merse could not express enough how much he appreciates manager Harry Redknapp.

Merson played under Wenger during the Frenchman's first season in North London and under Redknapp at Portsmouth in 2003. We were 33/1 rank outsiders to win the league that year.

"Harry came in at half-time and took three men off, put three at the back, five in midfield with three rolling attackers and we won 3-2".

'That's when I knew he was a great manager'.

Redknapp's most notable piece of silverware in a long and respected career in English football is the 2008 FA Cup triumph with Portsmouth.

"Paul said he is having a little run out in a friendly game for someone to get himself a bit of fitness and is really looking forward to it".

Arsene Wenger needs to learn from Harry Redknapp, says Paul Merson.

If Arsene Wenger had Harry Redknapp's tactical nous then Arsenal would win the Premier League, according to Paul Merson.

The comments seem even more outrageous when you consider that Redknapp has recently been sacked from his role at Birmingham, while the Arsenal boss has shown year on year that he can achieve with our underspending club year on year.

The pair have endured a frosty relationship over the years with Merson constantly bemoaning Arsenal and Arsene Wenger on Sky Sports.

"I think top four is an achievement now, certainly for Tottenham, Liverpool, Arsenal".
