It Was Only a Matter of Time Before Someone Created Diet Avocados

Eurobanan's Isla Bonita brand, a Spanish fruit company, has now invented a new product that they are calling what they are an "Avocado Light" - a diet version of a traditional avocado that has 30 percent less fat than variety you'd typically find in a grocery store.

As a bonus, the Isla Bonita Avocado Light is also supposed to taste juicier. "Studies have found that people who consume avocados as part of a balanced healthy diet have smaller waist circumference and are less likely to overeat and are more successful in losing weight and maintaining lost weight". Isla Bonita also claims their avocado "oxidizes more slowly", making it longer-lasting (i.e. less likely to turn that gross grayish brown) than the real deal.

Do you love avocados but worry about putting on the extra pounds?

The invention, which will be unveiled later this month in Madrid, is an attempt to make the avocado even more healthful than the nutrition community already says it is.

The new light avocado isn't available yet in the U.S. to taste for ourselves. Note: This does not mean that regular avocados are unhealthy.

According to California Avocados, the typical avocado fruit has about 80 calories and 8 grams of fat in one a serving, which his one-third of an entire fruit.

"The fat that is in avocado is actually healthy for your heart and has been shown to help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol", said Bonnie Taub-Dix, "Better than Dieting" creator and "Read It Before You Eat It".
