Just a week after a report linked Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski to Fox's Gambit, the long-developing X-Men spinoffs appears to have a working title.
The date of February 14, 2019, has been booked for Gambit in the calendar of Twentieth Century Fox.
Channing Tatum is also on board Gambit as producer in addition to Reid Carolin, and X-Men's Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg.
Gambit will be part of the X-Men Cinematic Universe and is expected to narrate the story of Remy LeBeau who lives in New Orleans, Louisiana as a key member of the venerable Thieves' Guild. The character of Gambit was created in 1990 by Chris Claremont and Jim Lee and grew to prominence due to the 1992 cartoon series, where his fraught romance with Rogue was a major plot point.
The film joins fellow X-Men films X-Men: The New Mutants (April 13th, 2018), Deadpool 2 (June 1st, 2018) and X-Men: Dark Phoenix (November 2nd, 2018) as films from the franchise with release dates.
Tatum latest movie is Kingsman: The Golden Circle and he has several voice-acting roles on the go, including parts in America: The Motion Picture and Smallfoot.
