The Kindle Oasis features a 7-inch, 300 PPI display and fits over 30 percent more words to the screen, which means users have to turn fewer pages.
Amazon has announced a new variant of the popular e-reader range called Kindle. This direct sequel to the Kindle Oasis first introduced in 2016 with a 6-inch display is thus considerably bigger.
Which books are you most excited to read on your Kindle Oasis?
The Kindle Oasis comes with Bluetooth connectivity to let you connect wireless headphones or speakers. The devices are available to pre-order on Amazon India, and will go on sale on November 15th.
Because the waterproof Kindles are larger than previous models, Amazon is also releasing a new set of water-resistant covers, which will double as handy reading stands.
The new Kindle Oasis ditches the battery cover of last year's device, which was needed to give it good battery life. Whilst the Kindle is dissimilar to last year's in several ways, the ambient light sensors that automatically adapt, dependent on your surroundings, are still intact, alongside a very similar model and design.
Amazon now offers a 4G model for the cellular variant in the USA, but in India the company will be offering a Wi-Fi + free 3G model.
The 32GB (Wi-Fi + free 3G) version of new Kindle Oasis costs Rs. 28,999, while the base model which is without 3G capability and comes with 8GB of storage costs Rs. 21,999.
Amazon has also increased the number of customisation options available on the Oasis, including more type faces, a greater level of boldness gradation and font sizes and the ability to left-align text to better match the design of paper books. The water-safe fabric cover is priced at Rs. 2,999, and comes in Indigo, Charcoal and Sandstone colors, while the leather cover is priced at Rs. 3,999, and comes in Black or Merlot colors.
