Addressing the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly, Swaraj said that while India is engaged in fighting poverty, Pakistan "seems only engaged in fighting us". A large number of Indian expatriates, along with Minister of State M J Akbar, Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar, and Indian Ambassador to the US Navtej Sarna had flown there for her speech at the UNGA.
