To mark what is known as the Sacred Defence Week in Iran, the country kicked started massive military parades across the country on Friday, as a show of strength.
Iran's army, the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) and the volunteer militia Basij forces participated in the parade, which is annually held to remember the 1980-1988 war between Iraq and Iran.
The latest military and defense achievements and missiles manufactured by Iranian experts were put on display at the parades. "We will promote our defensive and military power as much as we deem necessary".
At the event, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stressed that the country's military power has been used only in acts of defense, despite what he called the export of deadly weapons by foreign powers to the Middle East. "It is capable of carrying more than one warhead".
"Whether you like it or not we are going to help Syria, Yemen and Palestine, and we will strengthen our missiles", he added.
