Dragic was named the MVP of the tournament for his stellar play, which was cemented by a clutch 35-point effort against Serbia. He was scoreless in the final quarter.

Heat guard Goran Dragic nearly single-handedly put Slovenia in the lead Sunday and it held on to beat Serbia, 93-85, earning Dragic MVP honors in the EuroBasket2017 final in Istanbul.

With Dragic out, Serbia briefly took the lead at 79-78, and again at 82-80 with 3:37 to go.

He scored a game-high 35 points. "They brought the National Basketball Association speed on the floor", Serbia coach Aleksandar Djordjevic said.

With teenage star Luka Doncic (eight points, 3-of-10 field goals) struggling with his shot and hobbling off with an injury in the third quarter, Klemen Prepelic picked up the slack with 21 points, second on the team behind Dragic.

Serbia slowed down the pace in the third, which ended with Slovenia up 71-67.

For Russia, point guard Alexey Shved's 18 points and center Timofey Mozgov's 14 points were not enough to beat Spain.
