As for what Silver and Black will be about, some claims are floating around from fairly reputable sources, although nothing as official as Sony's official release date announcement (basically, you've reached the "rumors" half of this article).

For those who haven't kept up with the title, Silver and Black will bring together two characters from Marvel Comics who frequently showed up in Spider-Man story arcs.

The cast has yet to be announced, but the film will team up mercenary Silver Sable (Silver Sablinova) with burglar Black Cat (Felicia Hardy). The planned Silver Sable and Black Cat team-up movie, Silver and Black, is now scheduled for a February 8, 2019 release date. Venom is the first film in this still-untitled Marvel Universe Sony is starting to create that centres on Spider-Man villains, but doesn't contain Spider-Man. The film is being directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Secret Life of Bees, Love & Basketball), who will also be rewriting the script. Do you think that Sony is confident in their new spinoffs?

In more promising sequel news, Sicaro 2: Soldado has secured a release date of June 29, 2018.

Columbia Pictures also confirmed that Anne Hathaway will star in Barbie (news she was in talks for the role broke last month) and has moved the film back a few weeks to August 8, 2018 (it was previously set for June 29, 2018).

Lastly, the studio also scheduled Breaking Bad and Westworld director Michelle MacLaren's feature film debut, The Nightingale, for January 25, 2019, pushing it back from August 10th, 2018.

Sony Pictures hasn't had the best year in 2017, so hopefully their schedule for 2018 will offer up more positive results for them at the box office.
