The 2018 Ram 3500 Heavy Duty is offered with a revised 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel engine, packing 385 horsepower and 930lb-ft of torque - up 30lb-ft over the 2017 Ram 3500.
2018 Ram Heavy Duty pickup trucks will be available in dealerships in August.
The new truck, with a Cummins 6.7-liter diesel engine, offers "the exclusive ability to tow 30,000 lbs. with a fifth-wheel hitch", and an in-house hitch design "allows the Ram 3500 to haul the heaviest travel trailers in the industry", according to a company news release.
The forthcoming 2018 Ram 3500 HD cranks out 930 lb-ft. of torque, with a maximum fifth-wheel towing capacity of 30,000 lbs. when properly equipped.
Cummins has massaged its 6.7-liter I6 diesel to produce 30 lb-ft more than before and officially make it the class leader in torque (that's 155 lb-ft per cylinder, by the way). The hitch enables customers to move away from Class 4 and Class 5 pickup trucks, but it doesn't come cheap. Ram has done so again, announcing segment-leading figures for the new 3500 HD.
2018 Ram 3500 Improves Towing and Torque Capability
"Torque is ultimately important to the heavy duty customer because it's what gets the truck moving", he said.
The 2018 Ram 3500 30,000lb capacity 5th wheel assembly has an MSRP of $1,395 and the part number is 82215769.
The 2018 Ram 3500 is available in US dealerships this month.
