Katy Perry to Host and Perform at MTV Video Music Awards 2017

Get ready to roar with Katy Perry at the MTV Video Music Awards: The pop star is hosting the show next month.

The five-time VMA-nominated singer previously hosted MTV's European Music Awards in 2008 and 2009.

Following a host-less 2016 VMAs, the Witness singer will boldly preside over this year's show, and she's more than ready for the challenge. In addition to her new role as host of the event, which hits the Forum in Inglewood, Calif. on August 27, the "Swish Swish" singer is also set to perform live onstage. The former "Best Female Video" and "Best Male Video" have been combined for "Artist Of The Year". "Brace for impact, kids", Perry said of her preparation routine in a statement, according to Variety. Bruno Mars and DJ Khaled each have four nominations with Ed Sheeran and Alessia Cara tied with three nominations each.

The 2017 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from The Forum in Inglewood, California, on Sunday, August 27 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. As of Wednesday, 26 July fans will be able to vote for their favourites across eight VMA categories, including "Video Of The Year", "Artist Of The Year", "Best Collaboration", "Best New Artist", "Best Pop", "Best Rock", "Best Hip Hop" as well as many others.
