Box Office: Day wise India collection break up of War For The Planet Of The Apes

That was a million more on Thursday than the last film in the series did, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes went on to earn $72.6 million over opening weekend.

In seventh place is newcomer Wish Upon with an estimated $5.6 million. Five of the top six at the box office ("Apes", "Homecoming", "Baby Driver", "The Big Sick" and "Wonder Woman") boast Rotten Tomatoes rankings of 92 or better, and the sixth ("Despicable Me 3") was largely received as a solid enough family release.

For the fifth consecutive weekend, the box office was led by a tentpole that is film number three or beyond from a big-budget franchise. However, both films triumphed overseas with Rise earning $305 million, and Dawn bringing in an impressive $502 million. Spidey continued to perform strong in South Korea, as the film holds the #1 spot for the second consecutive weekend with $11.9 million from 1,500 screens.

Spider-Man is no match for Caesar.

Like its predecessors, War for the Planet of the Apes should prove to be a big hit overseas.

"What I think sets the 'Planet of the Apes, ' these three films, apart from other franchise films, is that it's not gratuitous sequel-itis", said Chris Aronson, Fox's distribution chief.

Coming in at third for the weekend was Despicable Me 3, earning just under $19 million. The DC Extended Universe film now stands at $380.1 million domestically and $764.9 million worldwide, putting it on pace to pass Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 as the highest-grossing film of the summer. The reunited siblings soon find themselves in an uneasy alliance to take down the elusive Balthazar Bratt, a former 1980s child star who seeks revenge against the world. In Universal's animated offering, Steve Carell stars as the voice of bad guy-turned-protagonist Gru - and his twin brother Dru, while Kristen Wiig voices Gru's wife Lucy and "South Park" co-creator Trey Parker plays villain Balthazar Bratt.

The #4 film is Baby Driver. After meeting the woman (Lily James) of his dreams, he sees a chance to ditch his shady lifestyle and make a clean break. The impeccably-scored heist movie stars Ansel Elgort, Lily James, Jon Hamm, Kevin Spacey, and Jamie Foxx.

Kumail is a Pakistani comic who meets an American graduate student named Emily at one of his stand-up shows. Despite some initial hesitation, Clare begins to use the box's dark powers to improve her life - only, as she discovers, each one also causes the people close to her to die quite violently.
