You can see him action in the 45-second trailer below, which reminds us that Dragon Ball FighterZ isn't due out until early 2018.

The Dragon Ball FighterZ beta launch, as well as a new addition to the roster of playable characters, has been announced during this year's Evolution Championship Series. Featuring 3 vs. 3 battle mechanics, new and seasoned players are sure to experience the epic scope of DRAGON BALL as they select their three-character team to take into battle. Registrations for the beta will open later this month on July 26. The characters Trunks was beating up in the reveal trailer will likely be included in the beta.

As of right now, we know that Goku, Vegeta, kid Gohan, Perfect Cell, Frieza, fat Majin Buu, and future Trunks are in the game. Since the games are vastly different outside of being based on Dragon Ball, it's quite possible that there are Nintendo Switch owners interested in the gameplay FighterZ is bringing to the table, but have no desire to play Xenoverse 2 at all. More details on the closed beta will be revealed shortly, said publisher Namco Bandai.

ShonenGamez had a chance to interview Tomoko Hiroki, and Junya Motomura who is the producer and designer for Dragon Ball FighterZ. What character are you thinking about gaining in Dragon Ball FighterZ? There are plans for various changes to stages as matches go on but no plans to implement cross-play between platforms.
