The show must go on - and for the band Queen, it will, in the form of a Rami Malek-led biopic. "Rami has great presence and he's utterly dedicated to the project", Mr. Deadline broke the news past year that Bryan Singer was in talks to direct with Mr Robot star Rami Malek playing legendary frontman Freddie Mercury. As well as this, May and Taylor are acting as consultants on the film and all of Queen's discography will be made available for the soundtrack as well.
By sheer coincidence, Queen + Adam Lambert's latest visit to another sold out United Center just so happened to fall on the exact same date of Live Aid 32 years ago.
Rami Malek may have already nabbed the role of Freddie Mercury but the other band members have yet to be cast.
Bohemian Rhapsody has finally been greenlighted by 20th Century Fox under the production of Graham King's GK Films. They've also confirmed that Bryan Singer will be at the helm of the film, bringing the Freddie Mercury and Queen story to the big screen. "So yes, I think we're very close", May said.
"This is a director with extraordinary imagination and style", the statement read.
The folks at Queenonline.com say Singer is the "perfect choice to recreate the fabulous Queen years which brought us such unforgettable moments as Live Aid". The film is close to beginning production, with pre-production meetings taking place this week in United Kingdom and principal photography beginning in London in mid-September.
"After months of speculation, QOL can also confirm that the film is now "as-close-as-that" to start of shooting", the band said.
Roger and Brian of course are serving as the film's executive music producers.
Come back soon. You don't know what you might be missing. Hint: "Fancy being in the film?".
