The operation, Khybar-4, will cover about 250 square kilometers in which pro-Daesh groups like Jamaatul Ahrar and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, as well as the Pakistani Taliban, have become entrenched.
Making a statement on situation in Afghanistan, Asif Ghafoor said Afghan forces are losing its hold over the areas under its control.
Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor rejected claims that Daesh ─ or the militant Islamic State (IS) group ─ has any organised infrastructure in Pakistan.
He said that a major operation was carried out in Rajgal Valley along Pakistan-Afghan border on Sunday morning. He, however, added that Daesh is gaining strength in Afghanistan, while some splinters groups of Taiban and other militant groups are using its name here.
"In Pakistan, the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar has shown an alliance with Daesh. There is a coordinated and complementary operation on their respective sides of the border".
The DG ISPR said a follow-up operation, Khyber-4, has been launched in tribal areas.
"No other force will have boots on the ground in our country". He said the security forces of Pakistan are very vigilant to foil enemies' designs against CPEC.
When asked to comment on the revelations made in Raymond Davis book, the DG ISPR said not only ISI there were many state institutions dealing with the matter.
He also said that 22 terrorists were killed in Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad in Punjab.
Besides, he said Khyber-4 was also aimed to check the terrorist activities in a neighbouring country where DAESH had already maintained its strongholds to carry out terrorist activities from across the border.
This will be the fourth time an operation will displace the people of Khyber Agency since 2014.
It is a sub-judice matter and the SC will make its decision in the case, he said adding that it is the duty of every Pakistani to ensure the supremacy of the law and Constitution.
The Karachi operation was initiated in September 2013, on the directives of the federal government to purge the city of terrorist elements. He added that it Chief of Army Staff is considering the second appeal.
DG ISPR said all state institutions are on one page when it comes to the China Pakistan Economic Corridor.
He said the cases of those 17 terrorists rounded up from Parachinar would be tried in the Military Courts on priority basis.
Major Gen. Ghafoor said the situation along the Line of Control (LoC) has been "especially tense" and there has been 580 ceasefire violations this year alone.
"As many as 56 major operations including the Mastung operation and over 9,000 intelligence based operations were launched while over 1,500 joint check-posts were established across Pakistan", he said.
To a question, he said the Chief of Army Staff General Qammar Javed Bajwa will take a final decision on the mercy plea of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jhadav at the earliest.
The ISI was not the only institute involved in the Raymond Davis affair, he said when asked to comment on the Central Intelligence Agency contractor's book wherein he states former ISI chief Lt Gen (retd) Shuja Pasha orchestrated his release from jail. "For this, army shall continue to perform its role in and with support of all other state institutions".
