North Korea says to take 'corresponding measures' if United Nations adopts sanctions

The United Nations Security Council is considering imposing more sanctions against North Korea after the country launched an intercontinental ballistic missile earlier this month.

WASHINGTON-Frustrated that China has not done more to rein in North Korea, the Trump administration could impose new sanctions on small Chinese banks and other firms doing business with Pyongyang within weeks, two senior US officials said.

A spokesman for China's foreign ministry said the two countries "maintain normal trade relations" and China's position on de-nuclearization on the Korean Peninsular is "firm and clear".

They say that whether this is the end of it, or how far it goes, would depend on China's reaction to the new sanctions, and whether they start to do more against North Korea. "All war equipment, including USA invading forces and nuclear weapons in South Korea must be withdrawn". President Xi Jinping was apparently unimpressed with Trump's warning, but Xi has often expressed displeasure with the North's stubborn defiance against his government.

"So he could be a tremendous guy, but he's going to do what is good for China, and he doesn't want 50 million people pouring across his border", Trump was quoted as saying.

"The Radiochemical Laboratory operated intermittently", the report said.

The country celebrated for days following the missile's July 4 launch, but many North Koreans are concerned that the test may now be used as a pretext for harsher mass mobilizations, sources told RFA's Korean Service. I am fairly confident that if the North Korean government launched a strike against any USA facility, from those in South Korea to Guam to the mainland, we would strike many of them down in flight and immediately wipe North Korea off of the map.

Trump has been very conscious of North Korea since 2013 and has tweeted about it more than 50 times in various contexts. All U.S. tactical nuclear weapons were removed from peninsula in 1991.

The dictatorship is banned from testing or developing missiles under United Nations resolutions, but has been working to develop a nuclear-tipped missile capable of hitting the U.S., ignoring repeated warnings from the global community.

North Korea manufactures atomic bombs using uranium and plutonium, and has conducted five underground nuclear tests since 2006. After Trump publicly pressed Beijing to rein in economic support for the rogue regime, trade between China and North Korea grew more than 37 percent in the first quarter, a statistic available in April but which Trump didn't publicly acknowledge until last week. There are two and possibly up to four countries that have the ability to strike the USA with nuclear weapons. However, it was not held at the time, he said.

"Those who heighten the crisis of war should reflect on their sins", the North Korean committee said. This was the period between the USA agreement with North Korea and the start of the U.S. "China, over many years, has been at war with Korea", he said. An online article in the official People's Daily this week accused the USA and Japan of using the "China responsibility theory" to hide their own failure on the Korean Peninsula. It would benefit all parties if China could re-strategise its policy vis-à-vis the Korean peninsula, and attempt to utilise its leverage over North Korea instead of lashing out against South Korea.
